Nutritional Intake | Good content in potassium and phosphorous. The fresh fruit is rich in vitamin A, B (B3,B9) and C. Good presence of flavanoids like kaempferol and antocyanic concentrations like cyanidine-3-rutinoside, an excellent antioxidant which gives the fruit its purple-red color. Among the antioxidants, we also have gallic, chlorogenic and neo-chlorogenic acid. |

Trivia | The cherry tree was likely brought to the West by Lucius Licinius Lucullus (a famous Roman gourmet) in 74 B.C. The name “cherry” seems to come from the city of Cerasunte or Ceraso in Turkey, from which Lucullo would take a sample of this plant. |
